Hi,
New to the group so a couple of details first.
I run a Sorento 2007 Petrol V6. Residing in the Middle East so environment is hot, really hot and hotter still. Tough on the cars here but my Sorento has performed really well in the 4 years I have owned it. Our biggest concerns are normally : is the horn working and does the A/C work.

However just now I am having a no crank no start issue which has me in my sweltering carport trying to trouble shoot the starting circuit.

There was no noticeable warning just a slight hesitant crank on my last trip out, then no crank on the next start attempt (luckily in my driveway).

On turning key to crank position from inside the car a very faint click is heard, from the starter relay and no click just silence from the starter and its relay.

I have already established the battery is good.
All related fuses pulled and checked good.
Main feed supply to starter is good
Battery to chassis grounds are good engine to chassis/battery grounds good
Battery connections and attached leads are good
Starter signal wire has voltage (9.4) when key turned to start position.
Swapped starter relay with good one to check. (still no crank).

I'm tending to suspect the starter or relay is bad as I have a voltage on the signal wire when key is turned to crank position and 12volts available at main starter feed.

Next step will be to jump the starter relay 30 to 87 and see if starter cranks.

Then some voltage drop checks as guided by YouTube videos.

I am concerned that the starter signal voltage is only 9.4 volts when key is switched to crank but I don't know enough to be sure that this is a problem.

Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Okay some further details, Working at the plug in terminals for the starter relay I found the following with my voltage tester:
With Ignition on- 12 volts at pin 30, - 0 volts at pin 85 - 0 volts at pin 87 and 0. 5 volts at pin 86.
With key turned to start crank position pin 85 changes to 12 volts rest are the same.
Thanks

Okay so I've confirmed the starter has failed.
Just removing it now but on my particular model KIA have ambushed me with an engine mount bracket wrapped around the starter. It has to come out to allow starter to move out of its housing.
Engine will need support/slight lift to remove the bracket, wonderful
