2017 Sorento Auto light function malfunctioning?

When driving home from a friend’s house the other night the lights were working fine and then suddenly (at what could have been a a fatal time even though on city street) they turned off! Fortunately my reflexes were fast enough to turn the lights to full ON before anything could happen. When I got to some streets close to home where I could safely “test”, I switched to AUTO again and they worked fine. I have left them on AUTO (but not at night) Now this morning I get a text from my neighbor at 6:50 am saying “your car lights are on!” Then 10 minutes later “they’re off”. Mind you, my car engine wasn’t even on!!!! (And this isn’t the first time for that) Anyone else ever have this happen? Thanks
