Hey guys, I feel foolish for even posting this but...

I have a 2023 Sorento and I cannot lock the doors without the key fob. When I press the button to lock the vehicle, nothing happens. When I have the fob, I can use the button.

Perhaps an issue on my end or is this how the vehicle is designed?

I have the exact same question for my 2023 Sorento Hybrid. Without the key fob, I can't lock the doors from inside on the arm rest button, nor on the outside door handle button. Nothing about this is mentioned in the manual from what I can find. Help!

From what I have seen the key fob has to be in, or in fairly close proximity to the vehicle for the locks to work. Another question along this line is how do you lock the vehicle, from outside the vehicle, if you want to leave it running? Only way I have found is to turn it off, then start it with the remote start. But then the car turns off after 10 minutes or so. Kia is protecting us from ourselves it looks like.

Just to mine to the dealer said they don’t lock without fob.

I for sure thought our was broken. Not being able to lock the doors without the fob is ridiculous. Kia please fix this with a software update.

I agree
I had a 2013 Sorento that I could do that and it was great
Now my 2023 doesn’t allow me that option
This is ridiculous and should be upgraded via software updates
Very disappointing

I just had a chat with Kia and NO, thete is no fix now or in the forseable futur. I asked why and they said it was for security. I said what security? A theif will lock the doors when I'm not lookong? The man at the other admited he had no clue. 2 Hyundai before this is my first 2023 Kia and I'm not impresed.

I also agree, this is my third Sorento and had I known I would not be able to lock the doors from the driveers door panel I would not have purchased my third one. FIX IT!

I lock and unlock my 2023 Sorento from the Kia app. I also use the app to lock my fob in the car so I don’t have to carry it around. But I just did get mine about 2 months ago so maybe they have made some changes. I find it super easy and convenient.

The Kia app? Going to cost you $15 a month after first year for pleasure of locking your door??

Can you leave your Sorento running and lock the doors from the Kia App?
Mine will not allow me park leave it running and lock the doors from fob, just get an alert noise, but the doors won’t lock if it’s left running.

My husband can lock my Kia Sorrento from his fob with my keys in the car. I also leave my car running but if you do not return Within 30 minutes it will shut itself off. Kia really needs to make an app where we can lock our car from the inside when we get out and shut the door without using the key fob. It’s ridiculous!

Based on the cost to get a duplicate key in Clarksville at $610.00, is why I think you can’t lock the car without having the key in your hand. I bought mine used and it only came with one key. Paying $610.00 for another key is not in my budget. I have always carried two keys in case One gets locked in the car. Not with this 2023 Sorento!

I just figured out how to lock the keys/fob in the car on purpose. Let's say you want to leave your car somewhere like the airport or the dealership can do this for pick up later and you want to be able to lock your keys in the car and someone else can open it later with the spare set of keys/fob. When you get out of your car, you open up the rear hatch and then lock the car with the hatch still open. Then wrap your fob/key with aluminum foil and place it in the car, and then close the hatch and there you have it! Car is locked with the keys inside and safe!
