Hi Folks,
I picked up a 2015 LX several months ago, as a second vehicle for hauling stuff/people, but mainly to feed my PEV (electric bikes, etc..) addiction.
I'm thoroughly enjoying my experience with it so far, however, the headlight and general light output on his vehicle is so bad.
My existing vehicle prior to this purchase is a 2015 Subaru WRX STI, and the OEM LED headlights on that put the headlights on this Sorento LX to shame.
Prior to that I retrofitted an HID projector kit into the OEM headlamp housing of my 2003 Honda Element.
Prior to that I retrofitted an HID projector kit into the OEM headlamp housing of my 1994 Honda Accord.
I've been spoiled with great superb light output.
What I've done so far:
Swapped out the stock halogen headlight bulb (H7) with an LED conversion kit -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08X1W3LYT
Swapped out the high-beam halogen bulb (H7) with an LED conversion kit -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09JZC6TGX
Swapped out the fog light halogen bulb (880) with an LED conversion kit -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09WRHS6MT
The changes so far, have made it slightly better.
It's funny, the Fog lights with the LED kit are doing more light output than the headlight LED kit.
This is likely because of the OEM projector in the OEM headlamp housing is just poorly designed, at least that is my opinion. The light just doesn't get thrown far enough.
This led my down the path of doing another retrofit, this time with LED (instead of HID), as times have changed, LED's price point and performance has increased as to almost par with HID now, the value is just unbeatable.
I can pick up another set of aftermarket OEM Fog light housing on Ebay for about $50.
Currently, deciding on a wide gamut of selections for the LED projector kit, which can range from $50 - $300 -- the benefit of saturation of the market, go with a no-name or a "quality" brand in the retrofit space.
Cut up the fog light housing, and fabricate the LED projector kit into it.
Then profit.
My questions:
Has anyone had the same thoughts on the 2015 LX ?
Is there another easier solution to satisfy my spoiled history with headlights ?
I'm welcome to any feedback as well.
Thanks
