Questions about towing with a 4cyl, 2017 Kia Sorento

We have a 2017 Kia Sorento; 4cyl, front wheel drive with a 5000lb rated hitch. We are looking to use it tow a 4X8 or 5X8 Uhaul trailer to help a family member move from Atlanta to St Louis (approx 500+ miles).

Uhaul website claims we can haul between 1600-1800lbs. Is this about right? I'm wondering about this so any advice on what to be careful with for this trip? is this too much for this vehicle? We already have a couch, table and some misc furniture that will be loaded in it (as well as inside the Sorento). Any other advice for hauling with this vehicle?

The rating you mention is of the hitch, not the capabilities of the vehicle. You need to look at the tongue weight rating for the Kia. I'd reach out to your local Kia dealer. Uhaul trailers themselves are very heavy. Thats going to eat into your towing capacity. Maybe contact other trailer companies?
